Men's Group Barbecue

This event was attended by over 30 men who were challenged by Kirsten to consider the prophet Micah's words that God requires us "to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God". Kirsten asked us to consider how we do this in our work places, in our homes and relationships with each other: justice, mercy and humble service in step with God. The next meeting of the Men's Group is on Monday 13th September in the Corporation Club, Slyfield Green, at 8pm.

Keith Todd. We have received an e mail from Keith bringing us up to date with his situation in Australia and telling about his new role. A copy is on the narthex noticebaord.

Renee Aitken The service for Renee will be on Wednesday 28th July at 12 noon in St Peter's Church. Please pray for the family and friends of Renee who have been shocked at her sudden deterioration in health and now saddened by her death. For many years Renee has been worshipping at the Church in Jacobs Well and quietly offering herself in God's service. Renee had a love of flowers and used to provide flower arrangements for the worship at Jacobs Well. The flowers are given away each week so her gift went into many homes to bring blessing to people in need. Another of Renee's gifts, appreciated especially by those of us in leadership, was encouragement. We shall miss Renee, but rejoice that for her heaven is her
home.

Chris Thatcher's TV appearance

Well done Chris for your BBC TV appearance on Thursday in Breakfast, Lunch and Evening News bulletins. You represented Christ's College really well - congratulations!

Thank you to all how gave and all who collected.
You probably realised, the Arrows and Frys were so surprised last Sunday with being given a gift that we were lost for words!
We just want to thank you so much for your generous gift - but above all for the privilege we have felt in serving with you during
'the vacancy' in particular: the co-operation and support we have always felt from you all. What a lot we have to thank God for in
being part of such a church family, where we all try and use the gifts and talents God has given us for His glory.
We have decided to go out together to spend our 'Ambassadors' vouchers. One of the bonuses of having worked so
closely together this year has been getting to know one another better and grow in respect for what each offers.
It will be an interesting exercise to see what play or film we can agree that we will all enjoy! So - do ask us!
You will also know how delighted we were that Kirsten accepted the invitation to be our Vicar - and are confident that she is
God's choice to lead us forward. We look forward to working with her and for us all to grow together in love and service of one
another and our community. May we continue to experience God's blessing - individually, and as a church.
