NOTES OF SCC MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 21ST APRIL 2008

Some matters discussed at the meeting on Monday :

In conjunction with St John's Stoke, St Peter's, New Hope and the Diocese a bid is being put forward for possible funding for a community worker to focus on relationship and family life. A sum of money is available following the closure of Guildford Community Family Trust which a number of our members had been involved in.
A company will shortly be coming to carry out electrical work around the premises.
It is hoped to have a Work Day over the second May Bank Holiday, Saturday 24th or Monday 26th May, to do a number of jobs which we can cope with ourselves. Please let Elizabeth or Kevin know which day would be more suitable for you to come along and help.
Urban Saints (previously Crusaders) are proposing to have a Youth Mission in this area at the beginning of August.
It was agreed that at the start of Christian Aid Week (11th May) we have a bread, soup and water lunch together after the morning service.
29th June (St Peter's Day) marks the 40th Anniversary of the dedication of our church. To mark this occasion we will be having a celebration on the Saturday 28th June to which we are inviting past members of St Peter's, whose current addresses we know. (If there are folk you feel should be invited, please let Jean know). Further information about this event will be out shortly. On the Sunday 29th June we will be having a `bring and share' lunch after the morning service.
Our Church Annual Meeting is on Monday 28th April at 8pm.
Please consider who you might nominate to be on the Church Council. Those will further years to serve on the Council are :

Almighty Father, you have given your only Son to die for our sins and to rise again for our justification: grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness that we may always serve you in pureness of living and truth; through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Please continue in prayer for Ruth Sayers in Bethlehem and for the unsettled situation there.
