Maundy Thursday meals

This is one of the highlights of the year for me.  The intention is to invite friends and neighbours - some who come to church and some who don’t - to our homes for a meal to remember the last supper. Each host asks guests to bring some of the food and there is a ‘service’ that runs through the whole meal. Then at 9pm everyone arrives at church for communion together, bringing a candle from their meal with them. It is a wonderful atmospheric service that ends in silence on the green.

How does it work?

Hosting - If you agree to host, you let us know how many spaces you have spare round your table excluding you - e.g. you have 6 chairs and 4 spaces. We would then give you two spaces to invite neighbours and church would have two invites to allocate to people on a list.

We make sure that everyone is in touch with each other before the night.

Guests -If you don’t want to host but would like an invitation, we have a list at the back of church so no one is missed out accidentally – we need you to sign up for this in the weeks running up to Maundy Thursday so that we can allocate spaces and get invitations out to you. Please put a phone number and dietary requirements on this.

Look out for the notices and sign-up sheets for this!
